Saudi mining sector gaining momentum

The mining sector in top oil exporter Saudi Arabia is slowly gaining momentum as foreign companies look to make investment in a sector the government sees as important for economic diversification. A new mining law adopted in 2004 to allow greater access for foreign companies to the kingdom's mineral resources is beginning to bring results, mining executives said. (5 KB)

Ma'aden IPO

The Saudi Gazzette looks at Ma'aden, the state-owned Saudi Arabian Mining Company, which has announced the launch of its long awaited initial public offering (IPO) of 462.5 million shares comprised 50 percent of the company shares. Doing Business 2008: Saudi Arabia Joins Top 25

Saudi Arabia - the seventh-fastest reformer globally and second-fastest in the region - joined the ranks of the top 25 countries worldwide on the ease of doing business. It had reforms in three of the 10 areas studied.
